Mark has built the business of Dooneys up since April 1991. For the ten years before opening his own salon, Mark worked for his brother Michael at Michol M in London, with famous clients such as Charlene Tilton (Lucy Ewing from the TV series Dallas) and Amanda Reddington from the band Musicbox. Mark has also worked in Sheffield and in various salons in the South Yorkshire area. Dooneys now has a client base of over 500 clients
Diane, Mark's wife is the owner of Flynn's Barber Shop next to Dooneys salon in Wickersley. Although Diane is not a practicing hairdresser, she has a lot to do with the day to day running of the business.
Michol, founder of the renowned Michol M chain of salons started out in Sheffield's Sheaf Market in 1975. Michol had built on his superstar hairdresser status after styling the hair of the 1970 Miss World contestants, an understandably beautiful line up which included Linda Carter of Wonder Woman fame.
Michol's greatest triumph came in 1980 when he won the most prestigious award in hairdressing, the Wella Vogue Award, for which he created the original Bo Derek look.
